Why University City Chimneys Are Architectural Treasures
University City was founded in 1906 and grew rapidly through the 1920s-1940s as a streetcar suburb of St. Louis. The housing stock is predominantly 1900s-1940s with strong Tudor, Craftsman, Colonial, and Mediterranean Revival influences. Many homes are now in their second century and most still have their original chimneys.
We serve homeowners in: The Loop, Parkview historic district, University Heights, North University City, Olive Boulevard area, Vernon Heights.
These chimneys are architectural features as much as functional — decorative crowns, period-correct caps, ornamental brickwork, and unique tile patterns are common. Our work preserves these features while solving structural issues. We use period-correct lime mortars, salvage-yard brick sourcing, and traditional tooling techniques.
